Fall in North Dakota is one of the most beautiful times of year for senior photos, and William’s senior session in Bismarck captured everything that makes the season so special. With the trees turning rich shades of gold and the crisp autumn air settling in, it created the perfect setting to document such an exciting season of life.

This session was especially exciting for me because William is my brother-in-law, which made the entire experience feel even more personal. Being able to photograph someone from my own family is always an honor, and it made the evening feel less like work and more like spending time together while capturing memories we’ll all look back on for years to come.

Exploring Bismarck in the Beauty of Fall

We spent the evening exploring some beautiful areas around Bismarck where the fall colors were in full display. The soft golden leaves and warm evening light created the kind of natural backdrop that photographers dream about this time of year.

We spent a majority of our time around the grounds of the North Dakota State Capitol, which I absolutely loved using as a backdrop for William’s photos. The clean architecture of the Capitol paired with the surrounding trees and fall colors created a really unique contrast that added both character and depth to the images. It’s such an iconic location in Bismarck, and it worked beautifully for a senior session like this.

One of the things I always love about fall sessions is how the season itself adds so much character to every image. The textures of fallen leaves, the warm tones of the trees, and the softer autumn light all come together to create photos that feel timeless.
